THE DESIGN PROCESS Designing a dress is a unique experience. Working one on one with our designer, Rachel Alvia, you will choose every aspect of the dress, including color, fabric, and details. Below are the basic steps needed to create a dress from start to finish. Some steps may vary slightly as different designs may require additional work. 1. At your first scheduled appointment, you will meet with our designer, Rachel, and discuss your design. It is helpful to have your ideas organized by bringing any magazine photos, rough sketches, or ideas with you. From there she will work with you to choose fabrics, colors and details, and provide design suggestions and ideas. She may also take your measurements during this first meeting. 2. Shortly after the first appointment, a website will be created where you can view the concept sketches for your design. This site may show one design that you decided on at the first appointment, or it may show many concepts that Rachel created using your original ideas and photos. You will also be provided with exact pricing for each design concept. 3. Once you have decided on a specific design, color, fabric, and details you will sign a contract and make your first payment. Your measurements will be taken at this point as well, if they were not previously taken. Fabric and materials will then be ordered. 4. From your measurements, custom patterns are created. The fabric is then cut and the dress begins to become a reality. 5. A first fitting will be scheduled to assure that the dress will fit properly. Neccessary alterations will be marked, and you may choose to make slight changes to the shape or cut of the garment. Depending on the design, your dress may or may not have all of the details attached yet, and areas including the hemline may still be unfinished. 6. At the final fitting you will be able to see your dress totally complete. Your ideas have now become a reality! In the end, you will have a one of a kind dress that is truly a work of art, and a unique experience to remember.
